Exchange Fund - How it works

Transfer Process

Collective manages the exchange of shares into the fund from start to finish. Once you sign your exchange agreement, Collective submits notice of the transaction to the company for approval. Typically, the company then has thirty days to decide whether or not to exercise a right of first refusal. If the company is new to Collective, we reach out to introduce ourselves and explain the ways Collective benefits companies. Once the share transfer is approved and completed, Collective issues the limited partnership interest to you within three business days.

Transfer Process Workflow

Company Approved

Collective works with many of the best private growth companies to make their equity compensation programs the basis of stable, long-term wealth creation for their employees. All exchanges into the fund are submitted to the company for approval and all company transfer restrictions and requirements are observed. Companies may also choose to direct the allocation of exchange eligibility for their shares among their employees. See our Overview for Companies.

Confidentiality

At Collective, we understand that potential transactions in your shares are extremely sensitive. Collective handles each client's exchange into its fund with the utmost discretion. Companies are only notified of an employee's intent to exchange shares at the time the stock transfer notice is executed by the employee and submitted to the company.

LP Dashboard

Once your exchange is completed and you are a limited partner of the Exchange Fund, you will have access to your Collective dashboard. There you can view your capital account, executed agreements, fund performance, statements, tax documents and fund communications.
